Based in Suffolk, Conservation Services provides a consultancy and conservation/restoration service. Using both traditional and proven conservation materials and techniques we carry out conservation/restoration to archaeological artefacts, decorative arts, historical objects and antiques

We work for museums, heritage bodies, historic houses, archaeological units, churches, and private individuals. View a short list of clients

All work is undertaken either on site or in our secure and fully insured studio in Suffolk, where visitors are welcome by prior appointment. Conservation Services works to guidelines laid down by the Institute of Conservation (ICON), Museums Organisations, and the Institute of Field Archaeologists.

Conservation of Archaeological Artefacts, Decorative Arts & Historical Objects We believe that objects of historic and aesthetic importance should be preserved by carrying out the minimal interference to the object to achieve the maximum result.

Our treatments are always researched and chosen with the future of the object in mind whilst preserving the history and integrity of the object.

Each treatment is chosen with a view to its housing and, most importantly, to the views of the client.

We have experience in assessing needs of collections care through:
Condition assessment survey and report to objects or collections.
Preventative conservation assessment and reports.
Conservation cleaning and housekeeping
Training in all aspects of collections care including housekeeping based on the specific needs of the museum or house.
Specialised mounts and supports to fragile and complex objects.
Preparation for display, storage and transit.

Large Scale ProjectsWorking with curators, architects, developers, archaeologists and display designers we identify aims and agree objectives for projects.

We undertake evaluation and draw up Conservation Management Plans for areas of large scale change.

We work regularly with engineers, bespoke carpenters, craftspeople, conservation and materials specialists and build teams tailor-made to the needs of a project.
