Portable Antiquities Scheme

Conservation Services treats objects found by metal detectorists which have been reported under the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS). The PAS encourages reporting of all antiquities found through casual discovery by metal detectorists, building contractors and the public. This is a National scheme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund where finds are recorded and entered onto an internet accessible database for reference and research. To report your object and find your local Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) contact www.finds.org.uk.
While the reporting of antiquities under the PAS scheme is voluntary, items which may qualify as Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996 should be reported to the local Coroner within 14 days of discovery. Your Finds Liaison Officer, local Museum, or local Archaeology Service can be of help here.
Based in Suffolk, Conservation Services works both on site and from the Studio.
